The EU Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) states that appropriate OIML requirements may give a presumption of conformity to its essential requirements.

Such requirements are those examined and accepted by the MID Measuring Instruments Committee and published in a Communication of the Commission in the Official Journal of the EU.

Based on a WELMEC analysis, this Committee has approved a table of correspondence in which the compliance of the OIML requirements with the MID is described. This table was published in the Official Journal of the EU on 4/11/2006 (C 269/1).

R 137-1 Gas meters will be added to this table by the end of 2006.

OIML Recommendations related to Taximeters, Electricity meters and Material measures of length will be considered by the European Commission, once approved.
